We "SKY ART" is located in town of Naginatahoko, where Naginata Hoko, the most traditional decorative float in Gion Festival, departs. Naginata Hoko is the only one float to carry a living child (Chigo) during the parade. Chigo is considered as a messenger of the god, and during the float procession, he rides on the Naginata Hoko to perform the Taihei no mai, a dance to purify and bless the course of the float procession, and cut the sacred straw rope (shimenawa). This is a profound photo collection that captures the remarkable growth of the Chigo during the Gion Festival.
